How to do it
Fill your belly with air and brace hard before each descent.
- 1
Stand with feet shoulder-width apart, holding a dumbbell in each hand at shoulder height.
- 2
Keep your chest up and core braced as you lower into a squat, pushing your hips back and down.
- 3
Descend until your thighs are at least parallel to the floor.
- 4
Drive through your heels to return to the starting position.
- 5
Repeat for the desired number of repetitions.
Expert tip
Keep the dumbbells at shoulder height and your elbows up throughout the squat to maintain an upright torso and proper form.
Common mistakes
- ✕Letting the knees cave inward on descent
