How to do it

Lift your heels as high as your ankle flex allows each rep.

  1. 1

Stand upright with your feet hip-width apart, near a wall or sturdy object for balance.

  2. 2

Lift your heels off the ground, rising onto your toes and contracting your calf muscles.

  3. 3

Hold the contraction briefly at the top, then slowly lower your heels back to the floor.

  4. 4

Repeat for the desired number of repetitions.

Expert tip

Pause at the top of the calf raise to increase intensity and improve muscle contraction.
