How to do it
Push your knees outward in line with your toes as you descend.
- 1
Stand with feet shoulder-width apart and hold a dumbbell with both hands straight above your head.
- 2
Brace your core and keep your chest up as you lower into a squat, pushing your hips back and down.
- 3
Keep the weight stable overhead as you descend until your thighs are parallel to the floor.
- 4
Drive through your heels to return to the starting position, keeping the dumbbell overhead.
- 5
Repeat for the desired number of repetitions.
Expert tip
Keep your arms locked out and directly overhead throughout the movement to fully engage your core and shoulder stabilizers.
