How to do it

Squeeze your back glute at the bottom of each lunge.

  1. 1

    Stand with feet hip-width apart.

  2. 2

Take a step forward with one leg and lower your hips until both knees are bent at a 90-degree angle.

  3. 3

The back knee should hover just above the ground.

  4. 4

Push through the heel of your front foot to return to the starting position.

  5. 5

Repeat for the desired number of repetitions before switching legs.

Expert tip

Keep your upper body straight and core engaged throughout the movement. Ensure your front knee does not go beyond your toes to prevent unnecessary strain on the knee joint.

Common mistakes

  • ✕Stepping the front foot too narrow
  • ✕Letting the front knee cave inward
  • ✕Pointing the back toes outward
