How to do it

Keep your weight distributed over the midfoot throughout.

  1. 1

Secure a resistance band to a low anchor point.

  2. 2

Stand facing away from the anchor, feet shoulder-width apart.

  3. 3

Bend at the hips to grab the band between your legs with both hands.

  4. 4

Keeping your arms straight, thrust your hips forward and stand up.

  5. 5

Squeeze your glutes at the top of the movement.

  6. 6

Return to the starting position with control.

  7. 7

Repeat for the desired number of repetitions.

Expert tip

Keep your back flat and hinge at the hips, not the waist. This will help target the glutes and hamstrings more effectively.

Common mistakes

  • ✕Bending the knees into a squat pattern
  • ✕Pulling with bent elbows
