How to do it
Draw your shoulder blades down toward your hips as you lift to engage the upper back.
- 1
Lie face down on the floor with your arms extended in front of you.
- 2
Simultaneously lift your arms, chest, and legs off the floor as high as possible.
- 3
Reach forward with your hands as if you are trying to touch the wall in front of you.
- 4
Hold the position for a few seconds, then slowly lower back to the starting position.
- 5
Repeat for the desired number of repetitions.
Expert tip
Keep your head in a neutral position to align with your spine and avoid hyperextension of the lower back.
Common mistakes
- ✕Bending the elbows during the reach forward
