How to do it
Plant your feet firmly and keep your weight evenly distributed.
- 1
Stand with feet shoulder-width apart, holding a barbell with an overhand grip.
- 2
Lift the barbell straight up to your chin, leading with your elbows.
- 3
Keep the bar close to your body throughout the movement.
- 4
Lower the barbell back to the starting position with control.
- 5
Repeat for the desired number of repetitions.
Expert tip
Avoid lifting the barbell too high to prevent shoulder impingement; stop when your elbows are at shoulder height.
