How to do it

Drive upward as high as ankle mobility permits to maximize range of motion.

  1. 1

Stand upright with your feet hip-width apart.

  2. 2

Lift your heels off the ground by pressing through the balls of your feet.

  3. 3

Hold the contraction at the top for a moment.

  4. 4

Slowly lower your heels back to the ground.

  5. 5

Repeat for the desired number of repetitions.

Expert tip

Keep your movements smooth and controlled, and pause at the top of the movement to intensify the contraction in the calf muscles.
