How to do it
Inhale and brace your core tightly before each squat descent.
- 1
Stand with your feet shoulder-width apart, holding the barbell at shoulder level with a grip just outside your shoulders.
- 2
Lower into a deep squat, keeping your chest up and back straight.
- 3
Drive through your heels to stand up, using the momentum to press the barbell overhead.
- 4
Lower the barbell back to your shoulders as you descend into the next squat.
- 5
Repeat for the desired number of repetitions.
Expert tip
Use a full range of motion, squatting deeply and pressing the barbell overhead in one fluid motion. Keep your elbows under the bar during the squat to maintain balance.
Common mistakes
- ✕Pressing the bar forward over the face
