How to do it

Press your weight evenly across both feet throughout the entire swing arc.

  1. 1

Stand with feet shoulder-width apart, holding the kettlebell with both hands in front of you.

  2. 2

Slightly bend your knees and hinge at your hips to initiate the swing.

  3. 3

Explosively drive your hips forward to swing the kettlebell up to shoulder height.

  4. 4

Let the kettlebell swing back down between your legs as you hinge at the hips again.

  5. 5

Repeat for the desired number of repetitions.

Expert tip

Keep your core engaged and back flat throughout the swing. Drive the movement with your hips, not your arms.

Common mistakes

  • ✕Squatting instead of hinging at the hips
  • ✕Snapping knees into full lockout at top
  • ✕Letting shoulders round forward at bottom
