How to do it

Draw your shoulder blades slightly down your back.

  1. 1

Sit in a chair with your back straight and feet planted on the floor.

  2. 2

Clasp your hands together and extend them above your head, palms facing upwards.

  3. 3

Gently arch your back and look up towards the sky, feeling the stretch in your chest and front of the shoulders.

  4. 4

Hold the position for 15-30 seconds, then return to the starting position and repeat.

Expert tip

Keep your neck in a neutral position to avoid strain, and only tilt your head back as far as comfortable.

Common mistakes
