How to do it

Snap your glutes tight at the top of each swing to fully lock out your hips.

  1. 1

Stand with feet shoulder-width apart, holding a kettlebell in one hand with an overhand grip.

  2. 2

Begin by hinging at the hips, slightly bending the knees, and swinging the kettlebell between your legs.

  3. 3

Thrust your hips forward, straighten your knees, and swing the kettlebell up to shoulder height.

  4. 4

Let the kettlebell swing back down between your legs as you hinge at the hips again.

  5. 5

Repeat for the desired number of repetitions before switching arms.

Expert tip

Keep your core tight and focus on using your hips to generate the power for the swing, not your arm.

Common mistakes

  • ✕Squatting down instead of hinging at hips
  • ✕Kettlebell pulling the shoulders forward
  • ✕Rotating the torso toward the loaded arm
