How to do it

Point your toes and keep your ankles together for each rep.

  1. 1

Lie on a flat bench with your legs extended off the end.

  2. 2

Hold onto the bench for support.

  3. 3

Keep your legs straight and raise them until they are perpendicular to the floor.

  4. 4

Slowly lower your legs back to the starting position.

  5. 5

Repeat for the desired number of repetitions.

Expert tip

Control the descent of your legs to increase time under tension for the abs and to prevent lower back strain.

Common mistakes

  • ✕Bending the knees during the lift
  • ✕Arching the lower back off the bench
  • ✕Swinging the legs upward with momentum
