How to do it

Let gravity drape your spine over the ball without forcing the arch deeper.

  1. 1

Sit on a stability ball with your feet flat on the floor.

  2. 2

Slowly walk your feet forward as you allow your back to lie flat on the ball.

  3. 3

Extend your arms overhead and allow your back to gently arch over the ball.

  4. 4

Hold the stretch for 20-30 seconds, breathing deeply.

  5. 5

Walk your feet back towards the ball and sit up to release the stretch.

Expert tip

Move slowly into the stretch and focus on breathing deeply to allow your muscles to relax and get the most benefit from the stretch.

Common mistakes

  • ✕Lifting the head and tucking the chin forward
  • ✕Placing the feet too narrow during walk-out
