How to do it

Flex your toes back toward your shins to deepen the calf stretch.

  1. 1

Sit on the floor with legs extended straight in front of you.

  2. 2

Inhale and raise your arms overhead, lengthening your spine.

  3. 3

Exhale and hinge at the hips, reaching your hands toward your feet.

  4. 4

Hold onto your shins, ankles, or feet, wherever comfortable.

  5. 5

Keep your back straight and hold the pose for several deep breaths.

  6. 6

Inhale and slowly rise back to a seated position.

Expert tip

Keep your spine long and avoid rounding your back. Hinge from the hips and lead with your chest to deepen the stretch without straining.
